What is Electrical Stimulation?

Electrical stimulation, also known as electroacupuncture or e-stim, combines traditional acupuncture with gentle electrical currents. Once acupuncture needles are in place, small electrode clips are attached, delivering a mild electrical pulse through the needles.

This technique has been used in Chinese medicine for decades as a way to enhance the effects of acupuncture treatment. The electrical current creates a subtle sensation that many patients find therapeutic and even relaxing once they adjust to it.

How Electrical Stimulation Works

The electrical current flowing through the acupuncture needles creates a stronger stimulation than manual needle manipulation alone. The frequency and intensity can be adjusted based on your specific needs and comfort level during treatment.

Some patients report a gentle tingling or tapping sensation, while others barely notice it at all. The goal is to work with your body’s natural healing mechanisms in a way that feels appropriate for your individual condition.
