Cupping
Traditional therapy using suction cups to promote circulation, release tension, and support the body’s healing process.
What is Cupping?
Cupping is a traditional therapy that uses glass, silicone, or plastic cups to create suction on the skin’s surface. The suction draws tissue upward into the cup, promoting circulation and encouraging the body’s natural healing response.
This technique has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years and continues to be a valuable modality for supporting overall wellness and addressing various health concerns.
How Cupping Works
Cups are placed on specific areas of the body and suction is created either through heat or a manual pump. The cups may be left stationary for several minutes, or they may be moved across the skin in a gliding motion.
The suction creates temporary marks on the skin that typically fade within a few days to a week. These marks are a normal part of the cupping process and indicate increased circulation to the treated area.
When Cupping May Be Used
Dr. Spinali may incorporate cupping into your treatment based on your individual presentation and treatment goals. The decision to use cupping, like all modalities, is made on a case-by-case basis.
Cupping can be used alone or in combination with acupuncture and other therapies as part of a comprehensive treatment approach tailored to your specific needs.
